Fan Control is a preference pane that allows to change the fan speed and ramp up temperature to run your MacBook or MacBook Pro cooler. User Reviews Current Version. I have to reset the SMC to get the automatic fan control working again. Hopefully that bug can be fixed, which would make this usable again on the 2018 MacBook Pro:) Using 'target' mode seems fine, as long as quitting smcFanControl reliably allows the SMC to take over with auto control as needed.
When trying to run macfanx64.exe in an admin command prompt on my 2009 Mac Pro I get the following result. The fastest Fan #3 can run seems to be 2800 rpm. Unable to read key Fan1MinSpeed from SMC. If problem persists, contact developer at sourceforge.net/macfan for help. Unexpected error: SMC value could not be read Any ideas?
Hello, On my 2006 MacPro, the fans are: Fan 0: CPU 500 2800 Fan 1: PCIe HDD 00 2800 Fan 2: Rear/Exhaust 500 2800 Fan 3: Power Supply 600 2900 It was my assumption that both the order as well as the minimum and maximums were the same for all the current generations of MacPros. This doesn't seem to be the case - if this were the only problem (not identifying your machine) then I could simply add it to the internal database. However, that error message you are getting seems incorrect because it is returning information that makes sense for all fans excluding the first one. But it is returning information. The 'Number of fans in the system: 5' is blatantly wrong though, I don't know what is going on there and I have a feeling that this value is the source of the error. Have you used smcFanControl on Mac OS X? If so, does that work properly?
How many fans does it show? Something you could try as well is resetting the SMC. I will look into this further as soon as I can. Thanks in advance for your patience. Looks like I was wrong! I will add in some code to control up to 5 fans. I googled this BOOSTA fan a little bit, seems like there is a BOOSTA and BOOSTB fan reported by iStat pro, no CPU fan though.
Perhaps the BOOSTA and BOOSTB fans are for the CPUs? You do appear to also have an intake fan which I am lacking. Maybe you only have a 2009 Mac Pro with a single proc, thus no BOOSTB? If that is the case, I will add in support for 6 fans. Anyway, very interesting, I will add that support ASAP.
Unfortunately, with me lacking the means to test it, the first release might not work correctly! I'll need your feedback when I finish! Thanks again for bringing this issue to my attention!
